Compare recent Cigar Aficionado issues to find the one that matches your interests—New York cigar bars, celebrity features, sports, or classic reviews.
Quick Answer
Pick the September/October 2025 issue if you want a New York cigar travel guide and fresh reviews; choose the July/August 2025 issue for celebrity interviews and a broad lifestyle mix. For sports and classic tastings, the July/August 2023 or Mar/Apr 2024 issues are better.
What to Consider When Choosing an Issue
Each Cigar Aficionado issue has a distinct editorial focus. If you plan to travel or explore a city's cigar scene, a city guide like the one in the September/October 2025 issue is invaluable. If you prefer personality-driven stories, the July/August 2025 issue featuring Liev Schreiber delivers interviews and lifestyle content.
Also think about the number of cigar reviews. More reviews mean more data points for your next purchase. The September/October 2025 issue includes over 70 reviews, while the July/August 2023 issue offers 76 expert ratings. If you're tracking a specific brand or vitola, check the issue's review list before buying.
Decision Rules for Choosing an Issue
- Travel or city exploration: Choose the September/October 2025 issue for its New York cigar guide with bars, shops, and hidden gems. If you're not visiting New York, consider whether the guide still offers useful travel inspiration.
- Celebrity and lifestyle interest: Pick the July/August 2025 issue if you enjoy interviews with actors like Liev Schreiber and broader lifestyle coverage. Check the cover to confirm the featured personality appeals to you.
- Sports and classic tastings: Go for the July/August 2023 issue if you want NFL/PGA features and a vintage Montecristo tasting, or the Mar/Apr 2024 issue for Kentucky Derby coverage. If you're not a sports fan, these issues may have less relevance for you.
